Horse-assisted coaching for teams and organisations

Team days with horses at a força, in The Hague and Leiden, for up to eight participants: half day €2,000, full day €3,500. On collaboration, leadership, psychological safety and neuro-inclusion. A horse responds to the group dynamic as it really is, not as it appears in the annual report.

Making visible what meetings don't show

Your team functions. The meetings happen, the deadlines are met, the KPIs get discussed. But something else is going on below the surface: unspoken frustrations, unclear roles, tension that nobody names but everyone feels.

A horse shows that within ten minutes. Without an agenda, without diplomatic language. It responds to the group dynamic as it really is, not as it appears in the annual report.

What do horses reveal in a team?

Horse-assisted coaching works for teams because horses are herd animals. They have a clear hierarchy, communicate non-verbally and respond immediately to incongruence. If the manager says “I'm open to feedback” while standing with their arms crossed, the horse walks away.

That isn't a metaphor. That is what happens in the arena.

On a team day with horses, patterns become visible that stay hidden in a meeting:

  • Who takes the lead, even when that isn't the formal leader?
  • Who withdraws when things get tense?
  • Where does the real resistance sit?
  • How does the team communicate under pressure?

For which teams?

Collaboration under pressure

For teams where there is friction but nobody says it out loud. Where conflicts are avoided, or escalate instead. The horses put a finger on the spot, without reproach.

Leadership

For leaders and management teams who want to understand how they come across when they can't steer with job titles or words. Horses don't follow an org chart.

Psychological safety

For teams that want to build a culture where mistakes are allowed and feedback is welcome. You can't enforce safety with a protocol. It starts with congruence.

Neuro-inclusion

Around 20% of your staff process the world differently from the rest. Autism, ADHD, giftedness — often invisible, rarely named. They function, sometimes even (too) excellently. But the standard environment structurally costs them more energy than it costs their neurotypical colleagues.

Horse-assisted coaching makes that visible. Not as a problem, but as a dynamic. Teams that understand what it is like to work in an environment not designed for your brain work more inclusively. Not because policy asks for it, but because they have felt it.

Neuro-inclusion is also why I deliberately work with small groups. With a maximum of 8 participants a day, I can genuinely see every person in the group. Including those who would stay invisible in a larger one.

Formats

Half day (3–4 hours) — €2,000 excl. VAT

Introduction, two rounds of exercises with the horses, reflection. Suitable as a team day or as a first taste of horse-assisted coaching. Maximum 8 people.

Full day (6–7 hours) — €3,500 excl. VAT

Going deeper with several exercises, individual and group assignments, lunch on location. Suitable as an intervention where collaboration has stalled, or as part of a leadership programme. Maximum 8 people.

Multi-day programme — on request

For teams that want to work on collaboration or leadership structurally. Several sessions over a period of months, with follow-up in between.

From spring 2027 also available as a team retreat in Portugal. Several days at the quinta in Tomar, away from the workplace.

Executive coaching

For directors and senior executives I also offer individual programmes with the horses. No group, no team — just you and the horse. For leaders willing to look inward before they steer outward.

More about individual coaching

How it works

  1. Intake conversation with the client — what is going on, what is the aim, what should it deliver?
  2. Tailored programme — I design a day that fits your question and group size.
  3. The day itself — exercises with the horses, guided reflection, concrete translation to the workplace.
  4. Aftercare — a written report with observations and recommendations. Optional: a follow-up session after 4–6 weeks.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Can't find your question here? Book a free, no-obligation introductory call through my online calendar at the bottom of this page.

Do we need experience with horses?

No. No team member needs to know horses or to have worked with them. Everything you need, you'll learn on the spot.

What exactly happens on a day like this?

You do exercises on the ground with the horses. There is NO riding. I guide the day and translate what happens between the team and the horses into what is going on within the team. Every day is tailored.

How large can the group be?

A maximum of 8 participants a day. That is a deliberate choice: in a smaller group everyone is visible, including those who would stay invisible in a larger one.

Can this also be part of a larger programme?

Yes. A team day can stand on its own, but it can also be part of a longer leadership or collaboration programme. We'll discuss that in the intake conversation.

We have a conflict in the team. Is this suitable then?

That depends on the nature and intensity of the conflict. We always discuss this first in an intake conversation. Horse-assisted coaching works well with underlying tensions that nobody names. And less well when there are acute escalations that need to be addressed differently first.

Do you come to us?

No. The horses are tied to their location. You come to The Hague (Poeldijkseweg 47) or Leiden (Vlietweg 82). From spring 2027 also possible as a team retreat in Tomar, Portugal.

What does a team day cost?

A half day (3–4 hours) costs €2,000 excl. VAT for up to 8 people.

A full day (6–7 hours) costs €3,500 excl. VAT.

For multi-day programmes: on request.
